NYC, Eric Adams must wage campaign to curb diabetes ‘epidemic’ affecting 1 million New Yorkers: health report

When I was the Medical Director of the King David Center in Brooklyn back in 2014, I often had visits from Pfizer representatives eager to promote their new medications for diabetics. During these meetings, I consistently emphasized that we had an educational program on diabetes that would lead to better compliance and understanding among patients. While their focus was primarily on presenting to physicians, I stressed that the most significant educational need was for younger people, not just the scientific community. Despite my efforts, nothing came of these discussions. However, the need and opportunity for education on diabetes are more critical than ever, as highlighted in this recent article. It's important to note that life expectancy has already decreased due to the impact of diabetes, underscoring the urgency of addressing this epidemic.
